Last year’s winner My Tent Or Yours is on course to make his seasonal reappearance in the £140,000 Grade Two Bula Hurdle (3.05pm) at Cheltenham on Saturday, December 15th.

The Nicky Henderson-trained hurdler, owned by J P McManus, became the joint-oldest victor of the Bula Hurdle, staged over two miles and 179 yards on the New Course, when 10 in 2017.

He emulated fellow 10-year-olds Bird’s Nest (1980) and Relkeel (1999), when defeating old foe The New One by a length and a quarter.

Although it was a long wait for his first Cheltenham success, 11-year-old My Tent Or Yours has posted some of his best performances at the Home of Jump Racing, most notably as a three-time runner-up in the Unibet Champion Hurdle (2014, 2016 and 2017).

This will be the hurdler’s seventh start at Cheltenham and he has not first out of the first two in the other six. He was also second in both the 2016 renewal of the Bula Hurdle and the Sky Bet Supreme Novices Hurdle in March.

Trainer Nicky Henderson reported: “My Tent Or Yours is in great shape. We are looking to start his season in the Unibet International Hurdle again.

“That is the obvious place to go as he won the race last year. He did not have a penalty then, which he will have this year (6lb), and that will make things harder.

“He is getting on a bit now, but he has summered really well. He is also handling his work well.

“His enthusiasm has not diminished, but he has become an easier ride as he tends not to pull as much these days.

“He has been with us since he was a three-year-old. He has been a brilliant horse to train who has finished second in three Champion Hurdles – everybody loves ‘Tent’ in the yard.”

The other main race across the two days is the £130,000 Caspian Caviar Gold Cup, the prestigious handicap chase over an extended two and a half miles, while more highlights are the £60,000 December Handicap Chase and the £30,000 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle.

Entries for the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup close next week at noon on Tuesday, November 27th and will be revealed at noon the following day.
