God Given landed a sixth victory for trainer Luca Cumani, in the Group Two DFS Park Hill Stakes.
Seven fillies lined up for the ‘Fillies’ St Leger’ over the full Leger course and distance.
Horseplay, racing wide, was the early leader, with Galmarley to the inside, pulling her way to the front after about a furlong.
As Horseplay dropped back, Glamarley was joined by Flattering, the two matching strides and tracked by Sizzling and Horseplay.
Flattering and Wayne Lordan, edged into a narrow lead, with Horseplay inching into second, ahead of Galmarley.
Turning for home, Flattering held the call from Horseplay, but the cards had yet to be played down the long home Town Moor home straight.
The field raced wide into the straight and Flattering came under pressure from Horseplay, while Sizzling made ground to the inside.
Sizzling went on at the three furlong marker, with Galmarley challenging, while Horseplay and God Given were also in contention.
Horseplay hit the front with 1 ½ furlongs to race, followed through by God Given, as the pair drifted across to the far rails. In behind, Pilaster was closing with every stride.
But it was the two four year olds who fought out the finish, with God Given and Jamie Spencer getting up on the line to give Luca Cumani a deserved Pattern win. Horseplay lost little in defeat, with Pilaster a close third.
