Girsonfield Open Day

The Open day at Girsonfield in the small village of Otterburn, Northumberland, was not blessed by good weather!

However nothing could dampen the spirits of the owners who had come along to see how their horses and the yard was progressing.

Just with a licence for 5 years, Susan Corbett is investing every year in the facilities for the horses.

Last year it was a new horse walker, stabling and rubber matting – helped by a Government grant. This year its a complete resurface of the 5 furlong AW gallop.

The horses presented were yard favourites such as the highest winning last season, Ebony Rose, highest rated at 134 Ahead of the Curve – but the lady who stole the show was Morning with Ivan – winner of 5 and placed 3 in all her runs for the Corbett yard.

After returning from maternity leave – her yearling son could also been seen.

The syndicates organised by Susan continue to thrive with membership starting at only £40.00 per week.

Yard sponsors The and Dodson & Horrell also played a major part in the day.

After the presentation of the horses it was time to view the yard followed by a buffet supplied by Rose and friends in the Farmhouse.

Horses to watch this season:
