Nicky Henderson is to aim his exciting four year-old Fusil Raffles at the Grade One Christmas Hurdle at Kempton Park.
The French import made a big impact on his British debut at Kempton Park, when landing the Adonis Hurdle last February, but a nasty cut meant that he missed the Cheltenham Festival.
He returned to win a Grade One contest at the Punchestown Festival and got up to beat Grand Sancy in Wincanton’s Grade Two Elite Hurdle on his return.
With dual Champion Hurdle hero Buveur D’Air set to attempt to win the Fighting Fifth Hurdle for the third time and Triumph Hurdle winner Pentland Hills still waiting in the wings, Henderson has a strong hand in the Champion Hurdle.
He said: “It is going to be difficult to plan what we do next. We know where Buveur D’Air will go, and Fusil will probably go to the Christmas Hurdle as well.
“We have got to get Pentland Hills in somewhere. I would think it would have to be the International Hurdle at Cheltenham in December.”
