Royal Marine gallops back after winning the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere

Saeed bin Suroor is looking to rejuvenate Royal Marine with a Group One return to France, for the Prix du Jockey Club.

The Group One winning colt disappointed in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas, coming home in 13th behind Magna Grecia.

“He didn’t run his race,” said Bin Suroor, whose charge accounted for leading Investec Derby contender Broome in last season’s Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at ParisLongchamp.

“Christophe (Soumillon) said after four furlongs he knew he wasn’t there. After the race he had no problems, nothing at all has shown.

“I’ve checked everything on him, there’s nothing that has shown up, he wasn’t blowing.

“I think we’ll take him to the French Derby, that race might suit him.

“I thought he’d run a big race in the Guineas, I was really disappointed. He’s fine now, fresh and happy.” nicode-r
