Rakan was successful for the second time as he won the Listed King George V Cup at Leopardstown.

This 1 ½ mile contest attracted just three runners, for a race that often throws up Royal Ascot clues.

As the contest got underway, there was little pace on and it was Eminent Authority who led, but was soon passed by Barbados and Rakan.

Barbados and Donnacha O’Brien continued to lead Rakan by a length, as the trio turned for home, with the pace quickening all the time.

Rakan and Chris Hayes came to join the leader and moved into the lead, with Barbados keeping up the gallop.

But Rakan had enough in hand to hold him at bay, with Eminent Authority closing on the pair late on.
