Peach Tree gained a hard-earned but much deserved success in the Group Three Irish Stallion Farms EBF Stanerra Stakes at Leopardstown.
Seven horses went to post for this 1 ¾ mile race.
The race got underway with Wayne Lordan soon pushing Peach Tree into the lead from last year’s winner Cimeara.
Settling down, Cimeara went on from True Self who raced wide, with Peach Tree racing between the two.
Heading down the back, True Self pressed on into a length lead over Cimeara and Peach Tree, with South Sea Pearl to her inside.
That was the order, leaving the back and as they reached the home turn, Cimeara came to join True Self, while Peach Tree raced smoothly behind.
Turning into the straight, Cimeara committed quickly, but Peach Tree came to join her at the furlong pole.
Peach Tree had a slightly awkward head carriage, but lacked nothing for fortitude and although Mateo challenged late, the Aidan O’Brien filly did enough to win by about ½ a length, with Cimeara and South Sea Pearl close up.
