Envoi Allen further enhanced his reputation with a commanding performance in the Grade One Baroneracing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse.

A fascinating field of nine lined-up for this two-mile contest, with seven of the field having won last time out.

At the off it was Envoi Allen and Embittered who disputed the lead and took the first together, a couple of lengths ahead of Darver Star.

With a circuit to run, Embittered moved into a narrow lead from the unbeaten Envoi Allen, with Darver Star and Turnpike Trip, followed by Midnight Trip to the outside.

At the top of the track, Davy Russell and Envoi Allen edged into a narrow lead.

With four to jump, half a dozen lengths covered the entire field, with Envoi Allen and Embittered still racing together, ahead of Darver Star and Turnpike Trip, with Midnight Run next.

The front two left the back ahead of a bunched pack, although Midnight Run had been niggled along for some way.

Into the straight, Envoi Allen went on and took two out ahead of the improving Abacadabras.

But Envoi Allen sprinted to the last and opened up a two-length lead over the last.

A good jump helped him and although Abacadabras kept on, he could not bridge the gap and Envoi Allen beat his Gordon Elliott stable mate by 1 ½ lengths, with Darver Star a couple of lengths back in third and a gap back to Turnpike Trip.

Envoi Allen, racing in the Cheveley Park Stud colours and the winner of the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham last March,  is now unbeaten in six starts for Gordon Elliott, having won his only point to point.
