Ballyoisin galloped and jumped his rivals ragged for back to back victories in the Grade Two Fortria Chase at Navan.

Five ran in this two-mile contest which saw the return to action of last year’s Arkle winner Duc De Genievres.

Ballyoisin pulled his way into the lead and quickly moved four lengths clear of A Plus Tard and Duc De Genievres, with Hardline next and a gap to the veteran Doctor Phoenix.

Ballyoisin and Mark Walsh were taking no prisoners up front, in a bid to win this race for the second year in succession.

They took the field down the back straight with Duc De Genievres and A Plus Tard.

Five out and Ballyoisin’s lead had been reduced, as he took the quintet out of the back, with Doctor Phoenix tailed off.

Turning into the home straight, Ballyoisin still led, but his three rivals were within four lengths, as he cleared the third last.

Heading to the second last, Hardline emerged as the danger, but Ballyoisibn still led, as A Plus Tard closed again.

Racing to the last, Ballyoisin led from A Plus Tard and a spectacular leap at the last saw the Enda Bolger-trained eight year-old gallop away for a fabulous win.

A Plus Tard ran a cracking race but was 2 ½ lengths back in second, with Hardline back in third.
