Soffia just held off the late thrust from Dan’s Dream, to win the Group Three TRM – Excellence in Equine Nutrition Ballyogan Stakes at the Curragh.

Eight fillies went to post for this six-furlong contest on rain-softened ground.

At the break it was Rapid Reaction, to the inside, who led with Lethal Promise.

Settling down, Lethal Promise led Rapid Reaction, with the rest of the field separated and to the stands side, headed by Soffia.

Lethal Promise held the overall lead as the groups joined, but Soffia went on inside the two furlong pole.

Soffia moved a couple of lengths clear, but in the final half a furlong, Dan’s Dream closed to the far side.

But Soffia and Declan McDonogh held on for Eddie Lynam, beating the English raider by about a quarter of a length, with Queen Jo Jo a close-up third.
