Tosen Gift and Fabrice Veron made every yard before storming clear in the Listed Prix Rose de Mai at Saint-Cloud this afternoon.
Heavy ground put stamina and fitness to a real premium for this group of twelve 3 year old fillies over 10 furlongs.
At the break it was Tosen Gift the early leader from Biella and Lucie Manette.
Settling down, Tosen Gift led from Lisa De Vassy and Lucie Manette, who raced keenly, while the grey Biella was also in close order.
Tosen Gift continued to lead, with Out Of Town moving second, ahead of Lisa De Vassy.
With three furlongs to race, the tempo seemed to increase and Tosen Gift led into the home straight and increased her advantage with 1 ½ furlongs to race.
Inside the final furlong, Tosen Gift moved six lengths clear with her rivals toiling and making no impression.
At the line, Tosen Gift was perhaps 8 lengths clear, with Out Of Town winning a fine duel for second, to beat Lisa De Vassy, with this pair similarly a long way clear of the remainder.
A daughter of Lope De Vega, Tosen Gift, trained by Satoshi Kobayashi, had won a Nancy maiden over this trip, in soft ground last September.
