Final Song

The Dubai Carnival got underway with a victory for Godolphin’s Final Song, in the UAE 1,000 Guineas Trial Sponsored by Emirates NBD Business Banking at Meydan.

Fifteen three year-old fillies lined-up for this seven-furlong contest on the dirt.

From the gates it was Down On Da Bayou who went on from Rio Angie.

Down On Da Bayou led into the home straight with Rio Angie breathing down her neck, while Final Song began to close.

Down On Da Bayou led inside the final furlong, but Christophe Soumillon and Final Song wore them down inch by inch and got to the front in plenty of time to secure a comfortable victory by about 1 ½ lengths for Saeed Bin Suroor. Rio Angie came third.
