Farnan made all the running to win the Group One Longines Golden Slipper at Rosehill.

Sixteen juveniles contested this prestigious six-furlong race.

From the gates it was Farnan and Away Game who led with Mildred moving up to second.

Settling down, Farnan and Hugh Bowman led Mildred, Away Game and Dame Giselle.

Farnan led into the home straight and was challenged by Away Game, but the front-runner had plenty in reserve and fought of his rivals for a cosy victory, Mamaragan took third place, ahead of Tagaloa.

For trainer Gai Waterhouse, it was a seventh win in the Golden Slipper – and a first for Bowman.
