Former Arkle Chase winner Footpad has been sold and will race in America, it has been reported.

Owned by Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, Footpad proved top class as a juvenile hurdler and novice chaser, winning 11 races whilst trained by Willie Mullins, culminating in his 2018 victory in the Arkle at Cheltenham.

However, the eight year-old failed to sparkle last season and suffered from an over-reach and after impressing on his seasonal bow at Thurles, last November, was comprehensively beaten when third in the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day. Returning to Thurles in January, he was outpointed by stablemate  Real Steel.

That proved to be his final race in the famous green silks and Anthony Bromley, racing manager for Munir and Souede, confirmed to the PA news agency that Footpad has been sold and will race on in America.
