Japan’s superstar filly will not line-up at Longchamp on the first Sunday in October, as connections have decided against a run in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
Almond Eye proved her global superstar status last month when adding the Group 1 Dubai Turf at Meydan to her impressive Japan Cup victory in 2018.
However, her owners, Silk Racing, have released a statement which says she will not contest France’s premier race, which has proved a hoodoo for Japanese trained runners.
The statement, addressed to “Everyone who supports Almond Eye”, says:
“We are very sorry that we are not able to meet your expectations.
“We have to judge it is not the best race selection for her in view of the conditions such as environmental adaptation, the race itself, the care environment after race, and long-distance transportation.” hideuse
