Saeed Bin Suroor was delighted with Thunder Snow’s close-up third in the Grade One Metropolitan Handicap, at Belmont Park. The five year-old is likely to head back to New York State for his next race.

The dual Dubai World Cup winner was narrowly defeated by Mitole and McKinzie on Saturday evening.

Bin Suroor will now train the Godolphin colt in Newmarket, before he heads to Saratoga in August, for the Grade One Whitney Stakes.

“Thunder Snow race a huge race and I am happy with him,” Bin Suroor told www.godolphin.com.

“He was up against some of the best American milers and will improve for the race.

“We will bring him back to England and prepare him to race in America again, with his target being the Grade One Whitney Stakes (August 3rd) at Saratoga.”
