Charlie Appleby is hoping Boynton can defy a penalty and stretch his unbeaten run to three in the Qatar Vintage Stakes at Goodwood on Tuesday.

After making a winning debut at the Sussex venue last month, the two-year-old will return to the track for a shot at the seven-furlong Group Two prize.

The son of More Than Ready successfully followed up his maiden win with victory in the Superlative Stakes earlier this month at Newmarket’s July Festival.

Appleby said: “Boynton will go for the Vintage Stakes as there is a bit of a wait for the Group One races over seven furlongs.

“He is proven on the track as that is where he burst his maiden tag, and it is nice to have that bit of track experience in the bag.

“He is in good order, I know he has to carry a 3lb penalty but hopefully he will run well.”
