Dermot Weld is still aiming Investec Derby hero Harzand at the Dubai Duty Free-sponsored Irish equivalent despite revealing his stable star returned sore after his Epsom victory.
Ridden by Pat Smullen, Harzand took his record for the year to three from three in beating US Army Ranger by a length and a half, and remains on track for the Curragh on June 25.
Weld said: “Harzand was sore for a few days and had some antibiotics to make sure everything was all right. He was back in light exercise today, just a trot, and is sound and well in every way.”
He added: “We’ll see how he is, but the Curragh is the logical progression as long as the ground is safe.”
