If outsider Harrison wins today’s Ladbrokes St Leger, he will bridge a 52-year gap and become the first winner of the St Leger sired by a previous winner of the final Classic since Indiana in 1964.

Harrison is a son of Sixties Icon, who won the 2006 Ladbrokes St Leger (which was staged at York while Doncaster was undergoing redevelopment).

Indiana was sired by 1947 winner Sayajirao and won the 1964 renewal for owner Charles Engelhard, trainer Jack Watts and jockey Jimmy Lindley.

The last horse to be placed in the St Leger to be sired by a St Leger winner was Bonny Scott, a son of the 1984 hero Commanche Run, who was third to User Friendly in 1992.

In total, 24 previous St Leger winners have gone on to sire 42 St Leger winners between them.
