Goldencents made it back-to-back victories in the million dollar Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.

Vicar’s In Trouble got a flyer and Goldencents had to work hard on the inside to take the lead, with Pants On Fire back in third.

Racing down the back stretch, the front two pulled many lengths clear and seemingly cutting each other’s throats. But Goldencents had more reserves and turned on the turbos racing down the far bend, as Vicar’s In Trouble wilted in the heat of such a pace. Sadly it was later reported that Vicar’s In Trouble was taken off the track in a van, after his jockey had not been happy with how he moved in the immediate aftermath of the race.

However, any thoughts that Goldencents was going to just blow his rivals away were quickly dispelled as Tapiture began to close him down as the field turned for home.

In the final furlong it all became very hard work for the tiring Goldencents but his resilience never allowed Tapiture to quite catch him and he hung on with plenty of reserve for a courageous victory.Pants On Fire finished third.
