Fawaareq completed a hat-trick with a game performance in the one-mile John Banks Cambridge Handicap Stakes under Paul Hanagan.
The Owen Burrows-trained three-year-old, who had previously won at Beverley and over the Adnams July Course and distance, had a neck to spare from Ifwecan, with Archie a further three-quarters of a length back in third.
Burrows, in his first season since taking over from retired legendary Lambourn trainer Barry Hills, has his string in fine form at present and said: “We have had to be patient with the weather and we have had to wait for a bit of nicer ground.
“It was the same last year when with Mr. Hills – they seem to come right about June time.
“With Fawaareq, possibly the ground might have been a bit quick at Beverley, which is why he wasn’t so impressive.
“He won well on soft ground here over seven furlongs, but he has such a great attitude. He is very game. However, there is no immediate target.”
