Lady Aurelia delighted Frankie Dettori as she enjoyed a racecourse spin at Newmarket on Saturday morning.

Wesley Ward’s star juvenile is currently lodging at the National Stud ahead of a crack at the Group One Connolly’s Red Mills Cheveley Park Stakes on September 24.

The daughter of Scat Daddy is unbeaten in three starts this term, winning a Keeneland maiden event back in April before making the transatlantic trip to claim an impressive seven-length verdict in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Lady Aurelia followed up with victory in the Prix Morny at Deauville last month and connections are keen to add another European Group One to her tally later this month.

Dettori rode the filly at Ascot and Deauville and he was in the plate as Lady Aurelia worked over around four furlongs on the Rowley Mile with two lead horses from Robert Cowell’s yard, with the trio only really putting in a serious effort for the final couple of furlongs.

The rider said: “All is good and she’s absolutely flying. We are just getting her used to the undulations, but she’s fit and well and has settled in nicely.

“We are just getting her used to the dip here as it’s different to the tracks in America as they are all flat. The first week she was here she was a bit quiet, but now she is bouncing.

“I think the travelling (this season) took a lot out of her.

“I think Newmarket will suit her well and if she’s in good fettle, she is the one to beat.

“I’m very pleased with her and if we get her here in good nick, she will put on a big show.”
